Global Studies Diploma

Two-Year Intensive

After consulting with mission agencies, RMC has developed a practical program allowing students to quickly gain the skills necessary for entry-level positions in crosscultural ministry. The program is:

  • Short - only two years and the last semester is spent overseas - 16 months after you start you are on the field!
  • Intense - most options require additional courses in the summer or during the regular semester
  • Job-Ready - practical, career-oriented skills are developed
  • Biblically & Theologically grounded - You will build a solid biblical worldview foundation from which to serve interculturally
  • Partnerships - we have established partnerships with Mount Royal University, Wycliffe Bible Translators and Alberta Bible College to offer most of the career preparation training
  • Intercultural - You will gain understanding of and experience in living and working in a crosscultural setting
  • International - You will travel on an extended practicum (up to a year) serving Christ in another country
  • Social Justice - As you serve as part of a team you will be helping to address critical issues such as ignorance, poverty, disease, hunger, and injustice. You will be a vital member of a team bringing the hope of Christ to some of the most vulnerable and exploited people of the world.

The concentrations are as follows:

  • Global Child and Youth Care (Preparing you to work with orphans and at-risk youth)
  • English as a Second Language (Preparing you to teach ESL throughout the world)
  • Crosscultural Evangelism (Equipping you to share the gospel and disciple new believers globally)
  • Project Management (Preparing you to be a part of a team/task force which puts ideas into action)
  • Office Computer and Bookkeeping (Equipping you to provide critical support in an organizational setting)
  • International Community Development (Equipping you for work with development agencies and giving you the skills to enrich communities around the world.)
  • Language Learners (Learning how to hear and produce sounds of the world's languages and how to communicate in any language.)
  • Literacy Interns (Working with translation teams and local community people, teaching people to read and write their language.)
  • Language Surveyors (Collecting solid data to answer vital questions: How closely are dialects and languages related? How many translations are needed in a country or region? Where and how should translation projects be started?)

This program is designed to equip students with the necessary tools to be an effective participant in a crosscultural ministry team.  The student will gain Biblical knowledge and crosscultural working skills from Rocky Mountain College and a specific skill from places like Mount Royal University, Alberta Bible College and Wycliffe Canada.  This is a two-year, 10 month per year, full-time course of study with least 5 months of the program in an overseas crosscultural setting.
