The Edge

is a program like no other.

It’s not just lectures and homework. You won’t just be thinking about it. You’ll be right in the
middle of it. It’s life, and it’s not always pretty. It challenges you intellectually, spiritually, and
physically... and isn’t for the timid. But those who brave the obstacles will reap great rewards.

The EDGE is an 8 month program designed for those who want to learn more about God, and also want to experience the unknown, where you are taken to physical, intellectual and spiritual limits. Through class work, group work, worship, ministry exposure and adventure experiences, you will earn credit while learning about yourself, God, and your relationship with Him.

EDGE in the Class
Our regular schedule of college classes taught by experienced faculty will radically increase your
interest in God and His Word. Explore what it means to be a Christian through group work, Bible work, and interactive assignments. Edge students complete a full year of academics.

EDGE on Campus
Rocky Mountain College is the place to make friends that last a lifetime! Small groups provide
a safe and loving place to nurture your spiritual growth to new heights. Worship is always an
inspiring experience at the student-led chapels. Through worship, prayer and total-life commitment, gain access to God like you’ve never imagined.  

1 Year Program (30 credit hours )

 As an EDGE student, you will register in the following 10 courses:

• CSP130 Introduction to Christian Spirituality (3)
• HTH180 Christian Mind (3)
• HTH182 Christian Ethics (3)
• ICS150 Global Christian Citizenship (3)
• MIN145 Ministry Formation I (3)
• MIN146 Ministry Formation II (3)
• THO100 Christian Theology (3)
• Electives (3)

Elective courses are chosen by the student from a variety of first year elective courses recommended at the time of registration.  You may choose courses that are of special interest to you.  

MIN145 and MIN146 Requirements

As an EDGE student, you will receive 3 credits (graded on an evaluation of ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail’) each semester for completing the following requirements:

• Participate in 4 EDGE Options
• Attend Chapel
• Attend EDGE Events
• Participate in a small group with others taking the same EDGE experience

Completion of the EDGE certificates includes:

• Participation in 2 experiences in the Fall, and 2 in the Winter. See Edge Experiences for more details.

* If a student has achieved 75% or better in English 30-1 (or equivalent), an EDGE student may choose to write an assessment test during Orientation. If passed successfully, the student may opt out of LNG180 Introduction to Academic Writing and Research and choose an elective course as a replacement. LNG180 is required of all 2, 3, & 4 year programs at RMC so if an EDGE student decided to change programs after the first year, LNG180 would be required in Year 2 of the student’s new program.**
 
Extra fees associated with Global EDGE will be raised through team efforts and private fund raising.

Completion of this certificate qualifies as the first year of all RMC diploma and degree programs,except the Diploma in Theatre Arts and BA in Music (Note: 27 credit hours from the EDGE can be used toward the BA in Music).




CANADIAN BAPTISTS OF WESTERN CANADA BURSARY ($3000) 

 Students who participate in churches or ministries of the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada and enroll in RMC's EDGE program are eligible for a $3,000 grant to offset expenses. In addition, they will receive mentoring through participation in a local CBWC church in Calgary or south-central Alberta while completing their year at Rocky Mountain College.

1. Funds are available to anyone with experience in a CBWC church or who hopes to make their home in a CBWC church.
2. The funds are dispersed $1500 per semester directly to Rocky Mountain College.
3. The student is required enroll in the EDGE program at RMC and volunteer in a CBWC church for 10 hours a week for the 8 months of the program.
4. The students' interests and passions and the needs of the community guide participation in the specific CBWC church.
