Scholarships and Bursaries
I) STUDENT FINANCIAL AID FUND
Student financial aid is available through RMC from funds generously donated for this purpose. Prior to each semester students may apply for financial aid using the Financial Aid application forms, available here or from the student accounts office. These grants are disbursed through out the year. In most cases, eligibility is limited to students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours. Awards are made consistent with financial need and we are grateful for the availability of funds from the following sources:

II) ENTERING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES
To apply for a particular scholarship below, click on the title, print, and fill out the appropriate documentation. Please note that applications for financial aid will only be reviewed after you have been accepted to RMC. For many of the scholarships you need to also complete a Financial Aid Application Form. Some scholarship applications are only available at the school.
CANADIAN BAPTISTS OF WESTERN CANADA BURSARY ($3000)
Students who participate in churches or ministries of the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada and enroll in RMC's EDGE program are eligible for a $3,000 grant to offset expenses. In addition, they will receive mentoring through participation in a local CBWC church in Calgary or south-central Alberta while completing their year at Rocky Mountain College.
- Funds are available to anyone with experience in a CBWC church or who hopes to make their home in a CBWC church.
- The funds are dispersed $1500 per semester directly to Rocky Mountain College.
- The student is required enroll in the EDGE program at RMC and volunteer in a CBWC church for 10 hours a week for the 8 months of the program.
- The students' interests and passions and the needs of the community guide participation in the specific CBWC church.

DAMKAR RURAL ENTRANCE BURSARY ($500)
The donor wishes to assistance students who have a financial need with preference being given to students from a small town or rural community in Canada. Up to two awards are given per year for entering students (each of $500). Fall or Winter.
- A student who is enrolled in 9 or more credit hours in either the Fall or Winter semester.
- Financial need will be considered, therefore must compete a Financial Aid Form.
- Application due July 31st.
EMC STUDENT BURSARY ($600)
Students who regularly attend (one year prior to attending RMC) an Evangelical Missionary Church in Canada West are invited to apply for the EMC Bursary to receive $300 per semester (Fall and Winter only) for up to 8 semesters of attendance at Rocky Mountain College.
- Submit the Bursary application to the RMC Student Finance Assistant for proccessing.
- Must be registered in at least 9 credit hours in the semester.
- Application is required each year.
EXCELLENCE IN PERFORMANCE ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
One scholarship of $500 is offered to a student who excel in fields such as athletics, music, theatre arts, public speaking, Christian ministry, etc. Announced prior to the Fall semester with one half granted in each semester.
- Achieve 70% or higher in five grade 12 academic courses.
- Enrolled in 12 or more credit hours per semester at RMC.
- Demonstrate growing Christian character and leadership ability with excellence in performance.
- Maintain an acceptable academic and performance standard in each semester of study at RMC.
- Application due July 31st.
FACULTY ENTRANCE AWARD ($500)
Up to two awards are made available to students who show promise to make an outstanding contribution to the academic life, community life and ministry of RMC. Announced prior to enrolment in either the Fall or Winter semester.
- Enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in the Fall or Winter semester at RMC.
- Complete the Award application as well as a Financial Aid application form.
- Application due July 31st.
GERRY LEBSACK MEMORIAL ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
Two scholarships of $500 are awarded annually; one for theatre arts and one for music.
- Demonstrate competency in theatre arts or music, and potential in one of these fields.
- Not previously enrolled in an RMC program.
- Maintain full-time status in each of Fall and Winter semesters.
- Provide a letter of reference from a pastor or spiritual mentor.
- Application due July 31st.
MISSIONS HERITAGE ENTRANCE BURSARY ($500)
Up to two entrance scholarships of $500 are available to children of full–time missionaries. The decision will be based on ministry and educational goals, academic standing, involvement in Christian service and financial need. Fall or Winter.
- Child of full–time missionaries.
- Enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in the Fall or Winter semester at RMC.
- Letter of confirmation from the missions agency.
- Letter of reference from pastor or mentor.
- Complete Financial Aid application form.
- Application due July 31st.
MINORITY GROUP BURSARY (50% of tuition for 24 months)
This bursary is intended for students from an ethnic minority in North America who have a stated desire to prepare for ministry to their people. Up to 2 awards can be given each year.
- Demonstrated financial need
- Resident of Canada at the time of application
- Accepted to RMC and enrolled in at least 9 credit hours in fall and winter semesters
- Not previously registered at RMC
- A pastor/spiritual mentor's reference is recommended
- Apply by letter to the Financial Aid Committee along with a regular Financial Aid application
RMC EMERGING LEADERS ENTRANCE AWARDS (20 to 60% of tuition)
Intended to support students who are committed to pursuing careers in ministry, human services or music, and are recommended by a pastor or other referee regarding potential for intended career.
- Enrolled in at least 9 credit hours for each semester.
- Financial need is considered as is current and on-going responsibilities, ability to work, family situation and potential course load.
- Recommendation of pastor or other referee regarding potential for intended career.
- There is no application as the award is based on recommendations. Ask your pastor to contact us to recommend you.
RUSSELL SNYDER MUSIC ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP (1 cr.hr.private lesson tuition and fees)
Up to four scholarships are awarded annually — two vocal and two instrumental. Each scholarship provides for the cost of 1 credit hour of tuition and lesson fees for two semesters.
- New to RMC.
- Must register in at least 12 credit hours at RMC in each semester.
- Submit a recording of 2 or 3 pieces of music in different styles
- Submit a letter explaining how he/she would like to use his/her abilities in music.
- Must submit 2 letters of reference attesting to the applicant's aptitude and interest.
- Application due July 31st.
RUSSELL SNYDER WRITING ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP ($300)
A scholarship of $300 is awarded based on an essay of 1,000 to 2,000 words on the topic: How to Impact my Society as a Christian.
- New student to RMC.
- Must register in at least 12 credit hours at RMC in each semester.
- Must submit 2 letters of reference attesting to the applicant's aptitude in impacting non-Christian society.
- The recipient will be selected on the basis of the quality of writing, evidence of spiritual insight and recommendation in the letters of reference.
- Application due July 31st.
SAMUEL OLOYEDE ENTRANCE AWARD (100% of tuition)
This award may be given to individuals from non-western countries who are not able to obtain a similar education in their own country or geographic area and who intend to return for ministry to their own country or to another non–western country. The scholarship is equal to the cost of tuition. Other fees, text books, living costs and other incidental expenses are the responsibility of the student.
- The place of residence is a country deemed "non-western" by RMC.
- Meets RMC's normal entrance requirements.
- Substantial leadership and academic potential as verified by references.
- Education similar to that offered by RMC is not available in the person's country or region.
- The award is valid for one academic year with the student required to re-new the request every year.
- Application due May 31st to allow time for immigration processing.
VOLUNTEER SERVICE ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
Up to two entrance scholarships of $500 are awarded to those actively participating in a volunteer ministry.
- Have a combined average of 70% or higher in four core university-entrance subjects.
- Enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in the Fall or Winter semester at RMC.
- Letter of reference from volunteer supervisor.
- Application due July 31st.
III) RETURNING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES
ANNA KROMHOFF AWARD ($800)
Awarded to encourage and financially assist students who probably would not otherwise be able to continue their studies into the 3rd year of their program.
- Unable to provide adequate funding for the next college year.
- Demonstrate good potential for lay leadership or full–time ministry.
- Be enrolled full–time in a program at RMC, at least 9 credit hours.
- Has completed not less than 60 and not more than 90 credit hours in his/her program.
- Application and Financial Aid Form due July 31.
ASHTON HUBER BURSARY ($500)
This bursary is awarded in memory of Ashton Huber who died in a motor vehicle collision at the age of fourteen.
- Has completed 60 credit hours but not more than 90 credit hours at RMC and is registered for at least 9 credit hours in the following Fall or Winter semester.
- Has attended an Evangelical Missionary Church or an Evangelical Mennonite Missionary Church for at least five years before enrolling at RMC.
- Preparing for a fulltime role in Christian ministry and demonstrates academic performance commensurate with his/her abilities.
- Submit a written account of his/her personal spiritual journey, intentions for future ministry and the church(s) attended in the past five years.
- Application due March 15.
CHILD & YOUTH CARE ASSOC. of ALBERTA SCHOLARSHIP ($200)
This scholarship supports a student who pursuing the Child & Youth Care degree.
- Enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for the Fall or Winter semester.
- Demonstrates potential for effective service as a child & youth care professional
- Has a minimum 3.0 GPA in the previous semester.
- Is a student member of the Child & Youth Care Association of Alberta
- No application necessary.
CHRISTIAN WRITER’S AWARD ($150)
This award is based on an RMC class paper completed during the award year and submitted by the student’s professor.
- The paper should be an original thesis style research paper dealing with a contemporary Christian issue.
- Should be suitable for publication in a Christian magazine.
- No application necessary.
COLLEEN ARCHER (SHERICK) MEMORIAL AWARD ($450)
This award is given to a student who demonstrate Christ-like behaviour.
- Must havc completed at least 60 credit hours and be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours for the following Fall or Winter semester.
- Must clearly evidence growth toward Christ-likeness in the following areas: selflessness, servant-hood, supprt & encouragement of others, commitment and faithfulness.
- The recipient must be respected by fellow students and college personnel.
- No application necessary.
DALE ARCHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
This scholarship is given to a student who is engaged in ministry and demonstrates Christian character, strong leadership skills and potential, commitment to excellence and entrepreneurialism.
- Demonstrated Christian character in his or her lifestyle.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and potential for leadership excellence
- Enrolled in 9 credit hours in the next Fall or Winter semester.
- Preference is given to a student who demonstrates an entrepreneurial approach to ministry.
- Application due March 15.
DAMKAR RURAL RETURNING STUDENT BURSARY($500)
Provides assistance to students who have a financial need with preference being given to students from a small town or rural community in Canada. Up to two awards are given per year for returning students (each of $500).
- Enrolled in 9 or more credit hours in either the Fall or Winter semester.
- Financial need will be considered, therefore must compete a Financial Aid Form.
- Application due March 15.
DEAN’S LIST SCHOLARSHIP ($750)
One scholarship is awarded to a returning student
- Has been on the Dean’s list for both semesters of the previous year
- Has been involved in officially organized student activities at RMC.
- No application necessary.
ELIZABETH LUFT AWARD ($250)
This bursary is in memory of Mrs. Elizabeth Luft, who was a committed Christian mother and church member in the Didsbury community.
- Show evidence of a sincere commitment to serving the Lord (not necessarily in full–time Christian ministry) along with proven experience in Christian service, in such areas as a volunteer ministry, short-term missions, a stated call, or a declared major in missions or pastoral Christian ministry.
- Complete and attach a Financial Aid Application Form to this application.
- Have an AGPA of at least 2.00
- Enroll in at least 9 credit hours in the following Fall or Winter semester.
- Preference given to students who are more advanced in their studies who have financial need.
- Application due March 15.
EMC MISSIONS SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
Two awards are offered. The same person can be awarded both.
- Be a member of an EMC Church
- Has a definite call to missionary service.
- Has completed at least 30 hours at RMC by the end of the Fall semester of the award year.
- Be interviewed and affirmed by the Missions Director of the EMC to support the applicant’s pursuit of their chosen ministry.
- Submit 2 references along with the scholarship application.
- Application due March 15.
EMC PASTORAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
Two awards are offered annually, the same person can be awarded both.
- Has completed at least 30 hours at RMC by the end of the Fall semester of the award year and cannot have received this award previously.
- Be a member of the EMC Church, with a definite call to pastoral service.
- Be interviewed and affirmed by an EMC representative to support the applicant’s pursuit of their chosen ministry.
- Submit 2 references along with the scholarship application.
- Application due March 15.
EMC STUDENT BURSARY ($600)

The EMCWomen of the Evangelical Missionary Church award is given to up to 2 students.

- Enrolled in at least 9 credit hours in the next Fall or Winter semester
- Financial need, with preference for a student who could not return without this assistance.
- Application due by March 15.
FEDDERSEN SCHOLARSHIP ($250)
This award goes to the student with the highest scholastic attainment in the second year.
- Completed at least 30 credit hours but no more than 60 hours by the end of the current semester.
- Highest AGPA by the end of the previous semester with a minimum of 30 RMC credit hours
- Be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours for the next Fall or Winter semester.
- No application necessary.
HARMONY HILLS MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP ($400)
Two awards are available to music students.
- Show overall academic merit
- Excellence in music performance
- Personal character qualities
- Leadership potential
- Completed between 30 & 90 credit hours in a music major
- Enroll in at least 9 credits in the next Fall or Winter
- Preference to students active in the music program of a church
- No application necessary
JANKE CROSSTRAINING PRACTICUM BURSARY (up to $2500 ea.)
This award assists CrossTraining missions students by providing funds to assist in their practicum.
- Be enrolled in or have completed the first semester of the Cross-Training program through RMC, and planning to complete an overseas practicum within the next 12 months.
- The level of support needed and ability to raise support will be considered.
- Be recommeded by the Intercultural Studies Program Coordinator and the Cross-Training Management Team.
- Apply in writing identifying the nature of the practicum, anticipated costs and amount raised.
- Applications received at any time.
JANKE MISSIONS SCHOLARSHIP ($800)
Up to three awards of $800 each are awarded annually.
- been involved in the RMC Missions program.
- Demonstrates potential for missions ministry.
- Has indicated an interest to pursue a career in missions
- Has completed at least 30 credit hours.
- Application due March 15.
JIM HOOPER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($300)
This award is available to a student who has made a major contribution to music during the past year at RMC.
- Has significant potential for music ministry.
- Has an AGPA of at least 2.00.
- The student has potential for ministry in college promotions.
- Is one of the best performers in music among the student body.
- No application necessary.
LYLE LEWIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($400)
This award is available to students who are pursuing a ministry career
- Has completed a minimum of 60 credit hours at RMC at the end of the award year.
- Is enrolled in a vocational major.
- Evidence strength and ability in ministry in which they are already engaged.
- Financial need may be considered.
- No application necessary.
MENNONITE FOUNDATION OF CANADA SPIRIT OF GENEROSITY AWARD ($450)
The Mennonite Foundation of Canada presents this award annually. The award is split as follows: $225 awarded to the chosen student and $225 to be given to a cause chosen by the recipient student (RMC is not eligible).
- Demonstrates a personal spirit of generosity.
- Has demonstrated his or her generous spirit in identifiable and practical ways (using his or her time, skills, and/ or money to help other students, people in the community, volunteering, etc.).
- Enrolled in at least 9 credit hours at RMC the following year.
- Application due March 15.
M. JOYCE PRATT CREATIVE WRITER’S AWARD ($150)
This writing award is available to 1st and 2nd year students.
- Current student who will have completed no more than 60 hours by the end of the award year.
- Submits an original composition of creative fictional prose, 1,500 –1,800 words in length. If previously submitted to a class for a grade, this article must be accompanied by a release signed by the professor to whom this assignment was originally submitted.
- Application due March 15.
NEUFELD CHURCH MUSIC AWARD (First Place $200 and Second Place $100)
This award is available to music students who show progressive improvement in all areas of musical experience at RMC including academic and field education.
- Previous recipients are not eligible.
- Personal and spiritual contributions, specifically in the areas of attitude, spirit, interpretation, communication and cooperation will be considered.
- No application necessary.
PETER & GERTRUDE HOUTMAN BURSARY ($1,000)
The purpose of this award is to encourage and financially assist students at RMC to complete their training for service in the Christian community.
- Complete and attach a Financial Aid Application Form.
- Enroll in at least 9 credit hours in the next Fall or Winter semester
- Had an AGPA of 3.00 or better.
- Leadership qualities and Christian character which may be reflected in pursuit of their program.
- Completed a minimum of 30 credit hours at RMC.
- Application due March 15.
REINHARD & OLGA KADATZ AWARDS (2X$500each)
The fund will provide awards to students doing their practicum through the Cross-Training program and to worthy Intercultural Studies program students. One Practicum Award and/or one Program Award given out by the Scholarship Committee. The Practicum Award is credited on November 30th and the Program Award is announced at the end of winter semester Awards Ceremony and credited to the student account upon registration the following Fall or Winter.
- Enrolled in or have completed an overseas practicum within the next 12 months.
- Practicum Award: the student is in or has compelted the first semester of the Cross-Training program, and is planning an overseas practicum within the next 12 months. The student is intending to pursue a missions career. Level of support needed and the ability to raise support will be considered.
- Program Award: the Intercultural Studies program student has completed 30 credit hours of course work and has completed their practicum. The student intends on returning to RMC and pursuing a career in missions.
- No Application necessary.

ROSE & GILBERT FEEG MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP ($350)
Intended to assist 1st and 2nd year students at RMC who have interest and ability in music and its use in the worship of God.
- Enrolled in a music program at RMC
- Has completed at least 5 hours in music at RMC.
- Enrolled in at least 9 credit hours in the following Fall or Winter semester at RMC.
- Has received no other music scholarships at RMC.
- Preference given to full–time students who have completed no more than 60 credit hours by end of the award year.
- No application necessary.
RUSSELL SNYDER LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP ($750)
Two scholarships are offered annually to students who exhibit strong leadership potential demonstrated by ability to motivate others in spiritual and social areas.
- Completed a minimum of 23 credit hours at RMC by the end of the year
- Enroll in a minimum of 9 credit hours the next Fall or Winter.
- Good organizational skills and encourages general positive attitudes among others.
- Works up to his or her academic potential.
- No application necessary.
STUDENT UNION SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
The Student Union annually selects two members (must pay SU fees) to receive a $500 scholarship on the basis of their contribution to student life. The student does not need to be a returning student. Nomination forms here.
VERN SCHORR MINISTERIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)
Vern Schorr was an EMC pastor for 32 years and had a very practical heart for ministry. This award, in his honour, is available to a pastoral student who, through opportunities for ministry already taken, has demonstrated a heart for people and for ministering to their needs as testified to by references provided by the applicant.
- A previous recipient is eligible to apply for this scholarship more than once.
- Completed at least 60 hours of study in the pastoral major at RMC.
- Every intention of serving in the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada.
- Submit two references and a personal testimony that indicates how the applicant will meet the above criteria.
- Application due March 15.
IV) GRADUATING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
ALUMNI AWARD ($500)
This award is available to a Degree Graduate who is going onto further education.
- Worthy student.
- Indicates future educational plans.
- This award expires 18 months after graduation if the student has not gone for further education.
- Application due March 15.
SARAH ZOOK GRADUATE STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
This award is available to a Degree Graduate who is going onto further education.
- Enrolling in graduate studies in ministry within 18 months of the award.
- Potential for success in both graduate studies and ministry.
- Application due March 15.
COLLEGE LIFE AWARD ($300)
This award honours a graduating senior who has made a distinctive contribution to college life, particularly in an area of personal life or ministry not recognized through other scholarships.
- Graduating senior in a degree program.
- Has made a unique personal contribution to college life and/or ministry which is deserving of public recognition and for which there is no existing scholarship available.
- No application necessary.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP ($1,000)
This award honours the degree graduate with the highest academic achievement.
- Must be completing a degree program.
- The award is given to the senior with the highgest AGPA.
- No application necessary.
V) OTHER SOURCES OF SCHOLARSHIPS
