RES LIFE

The Residence Program is designed to promote a community of fellowship, growth, and accountability. Our purpose is to help students learn and practice independence in their social, practical, and spiritual lives.  We strive to create a safe environment for students to find out, and grow into, who God has created them to be.  

For some this is the first time learning to cook KD, clean the bathroom, or do laundry (clean sheets anyone?).  For some this is the first chance they have to start fresh with new people, new friends, and no preconceived ideas of who they are. Still for others this will be the first time they will face the questions: “What does it even mean to be a Christian?” or “Will I accept and let Christ’s forgiveness and God’s sovereignty affect my daily life?” (“What does sovereignty even mean?!”).

Res provides an opportunity to learn these things and much more alongside others who are on similar learning curves and with the guidance of a few who’ve “been there”.

 RES POLICY

The Residence Program Guide (see Documents below) is designed to create an environment of safety for all students.  It outlines how everything works in RES (Lounge Dress Code, Visiting Hours, your address, etc). The Program is available to all RMC Students, althought priority is given to those who are enrolled for 9 or more credit hours per semester.  All residents must sign a fixed term lease outlined in the Residence Program Agreement  (see Forms below).  

If you have questions about any guidelines, please contact the Residence Manager, talk to your RA, or see the VP of Student Life.  
**Please note that we do not have suites available for married students and their families. 

RES STAFF

Res staff is comprised of a Residence Manager and 3-4 Residence Assistants.  The Residence staff works hard to build a positive atmosphere and sponsors social events and spiritual formation opportunities throughout the year.  RAs host weekly IMPACT groups which are invaluable for encouragement, fun and fellowship, learning, and growing in Christ and in community with each other in Res.

RES FACILITY

- Apartment style with Standard and Standard Plus Suites

       - 2 Bedroom s (up to 4 occupants/suite)
       - Dining Table & Chairs
       - Living Room Furniture (all suites have at least one couch)
       - 4 Single Beds (Bunk Bed Style)
       - 4 Desks with chair

       - Standard and Standard Plus Suite preferences subject to availability)
              **Plus Suites are Standard Suites PLUS a Living Room
- On site coin laundry ($1.75 to wash $1.25 to dry)
- Parking (see Forms to request one of the 10 spaces)
- Less than two minute walk to RMC
- 24 HR Residence Lounge
TV, DVD, VHS (yep, VHS), Wii, board games, mini library

Brentwood (1-5 min walk) 
Brentwood Park and Ride Transit and LRT Station (3-5 min walk)
Northland Mall (10-15 min, walk 3 min drive)
Market Mall (15-20 min walk, 5 min drive)  
Dalhousie Station (1 LRT stop North, 5 min drive) 
Crowfoot Crossing (2 LRT stops North, 10 min drive) 

RES MOVE IN DATES

EDGE Students: Sunday, September 4th at 2:00PM
Non-EDGE Students: Thursday, September 8th at 1:00PM
Early arrivals are unable to be accommodated.

RES CLOSURE

Christmas Break:

Residence Closes at 5:00PM the Saturday following Fall Semester Final exams, December 17th, 2011.  
Those wishing to stay past this time must fill out a Residence Extension Application.

Residence will reopen on Saturday January 14th 2012 with the following exceptions:
Winter Intercession Students: January 8th, 2012
EDGE Students: January 9th, 2012

Students wishing to return earlier must fill out a Residence Extension Application.

Summer 

RES Closes for the summer at 2:00PM on April 21st, 2012 – the day following Graduation.  
Those wishing to stay longer must fill out a Residence Extension Application.

**Please note that the Residence Extension Application may only extend early arrival and
departure by a maximum of 2 days and is subject to an application fee as well as a cost per night.  
Residence Extension Application forms will be available in September 2011.

APPLY ON-LINE or send your copmleted APPLICATION FORM, as soon as possible to Student Life.  Remember to include the $400.00 Reservation and Damage Deposit Fee (credit card, debit or cheque).  This deposit is refundable by written request until July 15 (Fall Semester) or November 15 (Winter Semester). All residents must sign a fixed term lease as outlined in the Residence Program Agreement.
